My ultimate fave DJ Danny Tenaglia announced his retiring / resignation of DJing this month (which he has now unannounced!). This made me reflect on my time as a DT fanboy…

Here are my Top 5 Tenaglia Music Moments (in a club), in no particular order :0)
Barbara Tucker - Beautiful people
Tenaglia first played in Ibiza in Summer 2000, in the afternoon on the space terrace (before they put the roof on). By accident I was there. I’d drifted away from dance music the previous 5 years, this afternoon brought me back to the programme. The set was masterclass in twisted stripped down house, but closed with this New York house classic.
MFA - The Difference It Makes (Superpitcher Remix)
A “Summer anthem”. As described by DT when he played this epic tech trance number on the Space Ibiza terrace in the mid noughties. For me, sums up a moment in time.
Heartthrob - Baby Kate
A Carl Cox night in Space Ibiza (after Italy won the world cup in 2006) is where Danny really turned me onto techno. This track was played by him in both the main room and terrace, and struck me like a dispatch from the depths of the cosmos…
Jam and Spoon - Age of love
I made it to the big man’s 50th birthday all nighter in New York City in 2011. So many moments, but this track - heavily edited, before playing the original - was a moment of pure 90s throwback joy!
Marcella - Stabbing Sally (original)
Imagine a sweaty Ministry of Sound. Imagine industrial quantities of industrial techno. Imagine this track dropped. Imagine the dj dancing with an umbrella to the music…Danny makes dance music fun!
